Cost $3,500,000
This exciting project, located on a beautiful church campus a short distance from downtown Morganton, also began from master-planning services provided by CBSA. The addition will be a three-store Family Life Center. The ground floor will house classrooms and office space for the pre-school program. Additionally, the Church's “Deaf Ministry” will hold worship and Sunday School services. The second floor will have a gymnasium as well as various fitness and craft areas which will extend the churches’ ability to provide family fellowship. The third floor includes a walking track around the gym and youth services meeting room and breakout classrooms.

First United Methodist Church - Family Life Center
Square Footage 19,292 SF
Cost $1,869,899
In October 2002 construction of a Family Life Center addition began. Planning for the structure started with a site analysis to determine if adequate area for an addition to provide space for recreation, a full kitchen and serving line, and administrative offices was available while providing adequate parking on site. After the determination of adequacy of the site, the Building Committee outlined the functions to take place in the addition. The final plans contain an unfinished ground level for future expansion; a second floor with basketball court, stage alcove, commercial kitchen, serving line, and vestibule; and a third floor with pastor’s and administrative offices, and a separate library. A port cochere provides a covered drop-off area. In addition to creating the plans, CBSA provided construction administration to assure all elements of the building process. |

The new family life center at St. Luke’s replaces a small facility, which the Church had outgrown. The new building can seat 695 people for productions on the stage and 350 for dinner. In addition to the main fellowship hall, stage, and kitchen, the building contains seven Sunday School rooms plus a large Scout room. The Scout room can be subdivided to form two additional Sunday School rooms. The former fellowship hall was converted to a music building with space for the hand bell choir, chancel choir, and youth choir. |
St. Peter's Lutheran Church
Square Footage 15,000 SF
Cost $2,500,000
CBSA was commissioned to provide Master Planning Services for St. Peters Lutheran Church in Conover. Services included surveying existing facilities to determine how to best utilize those spaces and how much new space would be required. During this phase, it was determined that a new Multi-Purpose Fellowship Hall would be essential. CBSA has now been retained to provide complete architectural services for the project which consists of a multi-Purpose meeting space to accommodate 650 parishioners for worship service, 400 for dining events, and athletic accessories for youth programs. The plan also calls for a full-service kitchen and related spaces, smaller gathering/fellowship areas, and a three-story connecting building with elevator to the original building. The ground floor of the addition will be approximately 15,000 square feet and the project budget is currently $2.5 million. |
We strive to design religious facilities that are both beautiful and functional, serving as beacons of hope and inspiration to their respective communities.

“CBSA listened, responded, and ultimately provided a plan to consolidate our broad vision into a building that the congregation at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church will be happy with for generations to come. I found CBSA to be very patient and very attentive to the building committee as we worked to complete this project.”
